Pictures of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

Although eventually all images from ESA’s navigation cameras (NAVCAM) on the Rosetta spacecraft, as well as those from the OSIRIS camera instrument, will be available from ESA’s Planetary Science Archive, this doesn’t include any way of browsing the images. ESA have, however, provided a separate service which does allow the images to be browsed, and the original dataset to be downloaded. See http://imagearchives.esac.esa.int/

Unfortunately, this browser doesn’t offer any options for filtering images, other than to select folders covering particular periods. The MiARD project is working on ways to filter the image selection from ESA’s Planetary Science Archive  (e.g. to only choose pictures taken of a particular area on the comet, or with a particular colour filter). If you have any wishes or thoughts as to how this should be done, then please get in touch with us – james.whitby (at) amanuensis.ch
